I wish to change or update my contact information
Existing panelists can change or update their contact information (name, surname, address, e-mail) by contacting us at 1KA@fdv.uni-lj.si.
Who collects my data?
Data is collected by the Centre for Social Informatics (CSI), founded in 2011 at the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), University in Ljubljana (UL).
Can I sign up as a panelist in the 1KA panel?
That is not possible, because this is a probability panel – meaning it includes only persons who have been randomly selected from the population register.
Why have I been invited to an 1KA panel survey?
- Because you have been randomly selected from the population register (for legal basis, see the next question), or
- because you have indicated that you agree to be included in the 1KA panel at the end of one of our surveys that have been distributed on the basis of point 1.
By participating, you will express your opinion on important issues and ensure that your views and those of people like you are adequately represented. If you no longer wish to be contacted for 1KA panel surveys, please let us know at 1KA@fdv.uni-lj.si.
What is the legal basis for using contact information from the population register?
Article 41 of the State Statistics Act expressly permits registered researchers from registered research organizations to use contact information from the population register for sampling in survey research for scientific purposes.
What if I no longer want to participate in the panel?
Participation in all surveys is completely voluntary. If you wish to be removed from the panel, let us know at 1KA@fdv.uni-lj.si.
How come I haven’t received an 1KA panel survey invite in a while?
In accordance with the mission of the 1KA panel, panelists are not exposed to an excessive survey burden. As a rule, at least two months pass between invitations, often even more. Not every survey necessarily includes all segments of the population (e.g. some only include people younger than 50, others only people older than 50). In any case, each panelist receives at least one invitation per year. There may be administrative (e.g. change of contact information) or technical problems (e.g. lost mail or rejected email) – if that might be the case, please contact us at 1KA@fdv.uni-lj.si.
What data do you collect?
We ask questions on a variety of topics, ranging from housing and politics to health and happiness. For proper analysis, we also collect certain information that is considered sensitive personal data, such as ethnicity. We also collect your contact information to help us conduct the survey. Participation is entirely voluntary, and you can skip individual questions if you wish.
What will you do with my survey answers?
The information you provide will be used for research purposes only. This includes inviting you to participate in surveys and analyzing your responses to research questions. All data will be processed in accordance with the legal basis specified at the time of data collection. Most results will be presented in terms of proportions and percentages. We will not identify your individual opinion in the results without your direct permission. We will ensure that none of the respondents can be identified from the published results. Sensitive responses (or combinations of responses) that could potentially reveal the identity of a respondent will be deleted or protected by a special restricted access regime.
Will my contact information be shared with third parties?
We will never share your contact information with third parties for marketing purposes. If there were a legitimate research purpose for sharing contact information or personal data, we would only do so with your direct permission.
What are CSI’s data protection policies?
All information we collect is stored in accordance with current data protection legislation (GDPR). All information you provide to us is stored securely in our archives.
How long will my contact information and survey answers be stored?
All your personal and contact information will be stored until we no longer need them for research purposes, or until you request their deletion in accordance with applicable data protection legislation (GDPR). Your survey answers will be stored indefinitely, as they will continue to be useful to researchers and decision-makers, unless you request their deletion.
Can I access my data, request deletion or a change?
- You can access your data
- If your contact information has changed, contact us at 1KA@fdv.uni-lj.si to update it.
- Until the data is published, you have the right to change, amend, or request the deletion of your answers to any question (use the form at 1ka.cdi.si/gdpr). After the deletion of your personal data, your answers will no longer be identifiable in the database, so subsequent changes or deletions will not be possible. In the event of a violation of your rights, you may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office in Slovenia.
Any other questions?
