Consultation on Web Panels SPIKNA 2026

The Centre for Social Science Informatics (CSI) at the Faculty of Social Sciences (FDV) organized the traditional annual conference on Web Panels and Mixed-Mode Survey Methods – SPIKNA 2026. The event took place on 10 September 2026 and was organized in cooperation with the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SORS) and the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ). The programme included presentations by SORS, NIJZ, CSI, the Centre for Public Opinion Research and Mass Communication (CJMMK), as well as a joint discussion.

The purpose of the event was to exchange experiences and insights into the latest trends in the collection, analysis, and comparison of mixed-mode surveys and web panels in Slovenia and internationally.

The event featured the following presentations:

• Bias in estimates due to the recruitment gap (Gregor Čehovin, Vasja Vehovar, Andrea Ivanovska, Andreja Praček, FDV).
• The End of Face-to-Face Interviewing in Academic Surveys? (Slavko Kurdija, Tina Vovk, FDV).
• Does Fieldwork Encouragement (K2N) in National Health Surveys Conducted Using Mixed-Mode Methods Affect Online Response Rates? (Darja Lavtar, Tina Zupanič, Renée Erends, Blaž Hren, NIJZ).
• Increasing Participation in Person and Household Surveys through Respondent Profiling: The Case of the 75–89 Age Group in the ICT-HOUSEHOLDS Survey (Ema Mišić, SURS).
• Modernisation of the “Household Budget Survey 2026” (Urška Pirnat, SURS).
• Modernising Data Collection at SURS: Real-Time Monitoring of Responses and the Introduction of Responsive and Adaptive Survey Design Approaches (Nataša Bučar).
