July 2026: Survey Results on Stereotypes

Prof. Dr. Boštjan Udovič (CDEPŠ, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Žan Lep (Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana) presented the preliminary results of the project “Growing Cultural Distance and Stereotyping in Small Transition Countries: The Case of the Countries of Former Yugoslavia” (J5-50173) at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana on 15 July 2026.

The results come from a survey conducted in May 2025 as part of the 11th wave of the 1KA panel (Social and Technological Challenges: Stereotypes and Artificial Intelligence).

At a breakfast meeting with diplomats, journalists, researchers, and other professional stakeholders, they explained that stereotypes among Slovenians about various nations in the Balkans and around the world continue to persist. They emphasized that overcoming such stereotypes depends not only on the frequency of contact between nations, but above all on the quality of those interactions.
